Configuration Governance
The policies, approval workflows, and enforcement rules that control how product configurations are defined, modified, and released in PLM — ensuring every valid configuration variant is explicitly authorized, traceable to a change record, and reproducible in manufacturing.
Why it matters
Configuration governance prevents invalid or untested configurations from reaching manufacturing and provides the audit trail required in regulated industries (aerospace, medical devices, automotive) to demonstrate that released configurations were formally approved.
