Generative Design
An AI-driven design methodology where algorithms automatically generate multiple design solutions based on defined constraints and objectives, enabling engineers to explore a vastly larger design space than manual design processes allow.
Why it matters
Generative design shifts the engineer's role from drawing solutions to specifying constraints and selecting among AI-generated candidates, which compresses design cycles but creates new requirements for version management and decision traceability in PLM.
