Geometric Kernel
A Geometric Kernel is the mathematical engine inside CAD systems that creates, manipulates, and validates 3D geometry. It handles the complex computational geometry needed to build models, perform simulations, and manufacture physical products.
Why it matters
Kernel differences are the fundamental reason CAD translation is difficult. Geometry that is clean and valid in one kernel may have tolerance or representation issues when converted to another, requiring translation tools and downstream validation.
