Implicit Geometry

A geometry representation in which shapes are defined by mathematical functions (e.g., signed distance functions) rather than explicit surface meshes or B-rep boundaries. Implicit representations naturally encode complex internal structures and enable continuous parameter optimization.

Why it matters

Implicit geometry is the natural representation for AI-driven generative design, topology optimization, and additive manufacturing workflows where complex internal structures are design variables rather than fixed topology.
