Lot Traceability
The ability to trace a component, raw material, or subassembly back to the specific production lot or batch from which it came, and forward to every finished product unit that contains it.
Why it matters
Lot traceability is mandatory in food, pharmaceutical, and aerospace supply chains, and increasingly expected in automotive. It enables manufacturers to bound the scope of a recall or quality alert to specific lots rather than entire product populations.
