Modular BOM
A configurable bill of materials structure that represents all possible product options and variants in a single structure, with configuration rules determining which parts apply to any specific product configuration.
Why it matters
The Modular BOM eliminates the need to maintain a separate BOM for every product variant. For manufacturers offering high variant counts, it is the only scalable approach to variant management — without it, engineering change management and BOM maintenance scale with the number of variants rather than the number of components.
