Option Logic
The set of rules that governs which parts are included or excluded from a product configuration based on customer selections — including inclusion rules (if option A is selected, include part X), exclusion rules (options A and B cannot be selected together), and dependency rules (option C requires option D).
Why it matters
Option logic is what makes a Modular BOM functional. Without correct, complete option rules, the configurator produces invalid combinations that cannot be built, or omits combinations that should be valid. Maintaining option logic is an ongoing engineering governance responsibility that intensifies as the product option set grows.
