Revision
A formally approved and released snapshot of a product document or model that is immutable — it cannot be modified without initiating a new change process. Typically labeled A, B, C or 01, 02, 03 in PLM systems.
Why it matters
Revisions are the authoritative basis for manufacturing, procurement, and compliance. Only released revisions should drive production; using in-progress versions as manufacturing inputs is a primary cause of build errors.
